On the way to work today, something happened that brought a smile unto my face. A middle aged Uncle who was walking in the opposite direction as me clapped his hands as he walked. When he passed by, I heard a loud audible "Good Morning " from him. I smiled and greeted him back. This sets the tone for today and yes, it will be good.
Isn't it sweet to have others wish you a good day ahead ?

Came across this over the weekend! Reminds me to forget the hurts that people may have done towards you, and at the same time, focus and remember the little acts of love that others have shown to you!
I was on the mrt today and it was a long journey from the east to the west after a meeting. I was tired physically and my back started to ache. Thankfully, I had a seat. Then, two elderly gentlemen came in to the train near Outram park, packing the train with people. The seats have already been filled. I was one of them as we boarded earlier when there were plenty of seats available.
The gentleman that I saw probably looked as old as my dad (in the sixties going to seventies). I still remember his smile of thanks as I gave my seat up for him. He also said thank you, in Chinese. With a smile, I replied you are welcome. One can imagine should an elderly fall, the repercussions could have been really serious. We wouldn't have wanted our own family to fall, likewise, the same for others. The best part of this, is that the young lady next to me gave up her seat, hence allowing the two elderly gentlemen to rest. Somehow, kindness catches on. Together, we can forge a community filled with acts of love and kindness wherever we go. Give up a seat today to someone more in need than ourselves! |
